Hardware and Software Recommendations

Listed below are the recommended hardware and software specifications to ensure that ACD/Labs applications and solutions run as intended. Contact us below for more details about particular installations.

Client-Side Specifications

OPERATING SYSTEM
  • Microsoft Windows 10, 11
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Standard, 2019, or 2022
HARDWARE
  • Microsoft Windows compatible PC (minimum 2-core CPU)
  • 8 GB RAM or more (4 GB RAM minimum for some programs)
  • Hard disk minimum 100 GB
  • Internet connection (optional) / network connection (at least 50 Mbps)
SOFTWARE
  • .NET Framework Version 2.0, 3.5, 4.x (required for importing some file types)
    • Spectrus package may require the follow for specific activities:
      • .NET Framework Version 2.0 to import Agilent LCMS 6000 files and use the PowDLL converter for XRPD files
      • .NET Framework Version 3.5 to import Bruker CompassXtract files
      • .NET Framework Version 4.x to support a scripting engine that uses .NET Assemblies
  • Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages (required for importing some file types)
    • Spectrus package may require the follow for specific activities:
      • Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Runtime (x86) to import PerkinElmer TOFData files
      • Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Runtime (x64) to import Bruker CompassXtract files
      • Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Runtime (x64) to import Agilent LCMS 6000 files
      • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Runtime (x64) to import Shimadzu LabSolutions files

Server-Side Specifications

HARDWARE *
  • Multicore (minimum 2 cores) processor with maximum possible CPU speed
  • 4 GB or more RAM (4 cores would require 8 GB of RAM)
  • Hard disk minimum 100 GB
  • Fast internet connection (1 Gb+)
SOFTWARE
  • .NET Framework Version 2.0, 3.5, and 4.x (required for importing some file types)
    • Automation Server requires:
      • .NET Framework Version 2.0 to import Agilent LCMS 6000 files and use the PowDLL converter for XRPD files
      • .NET Framework Version 3.5 to import Bruker CompassXtract files
      • .NET Framework Version 4.x to support a scripting engine that uses .NET Assemblies
  • If you are planning to install the Apache ActiveMQ™ message broker along with Automation Server software, then Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) version 8 or later should be initially installed on the Server computer

  • Oracle Server 18c/19c (x64)
  • PostgreSQL 12 or above (Version 15.12-1 included with delivery)

* Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 is only supported with Oracle Server

* Above hardware specifications assume the standard deployment on a single Linux machine. For more information on options including Windows based servers and multi-server setups, please contact us.

** Outlined hardware specs assume a standard Percepta Kernel license with 4 parallel calculation units (sufficient for up to 50 front-end users or 20,000 calculations/hour workloads via API). For larger deployments, add 1 processor core, 1 GB of RAM and 500 MB storage space per additional calculation unit, or consider hosting the Percepta Kernel Nodes across several machines.

Citrix Deployment

Customers have successfully deployed ACD/Labs software under Citrix, however, ACD/Labs does not certify nor test the use of Citrix. ACD/Labs’ Professional Services team have assisted customers with such deployments on a project basis. Fast network transfer of large data files between client and Citrix machine is critical.

Please note, installations under Citrix require the use of License Server (installed outside of the Citrix environment) to control license permissions.
