A New Resource for Structure Elucidation Education

Toronto, Canada (June 3, 2015)—In conjunction with the publication of “Computer-Based Structure Elucidation from Spectral Data”, a new book written by Mikhail Elyashberg and Antony Williams and published by Springer, ACD/Labs has released a new Structure Elucidation Tutorial software package, free for educational use. Intended as a companion for the book, this software will provide invaluable structure elucidation experience and skills to analytical scientists and researchers.

The new book discusses in detail the concepts of Computer-Assisted Structure Elucidation (CASE), with multiple problems and examples based on real experimental data. This data is included with the tutorial software, so that users may practice the techniques in real time, exploring how various uses of the software can help to solve increasingly difficult structure elucidation problems.

The Structure Elucidation Tutorial software is based on ACD/Structure Elucidator Suite, the most advanced CASE system on the market. Structure Elucidator Suite extracts information from various analytical techniques, in all instrument formats, to generate an exhaustive list of potential structures which are consistent with the experimental data provided. The Structure Elucidation Tutorial version includes all the same advanced algorithms and interpretation tools as Structure Elucidator Suite, but does not allow the import or databasing of new experimental data.

The new book is available directly from Springer, and the companion software is available directly from the ACD/Labs website. Together, they provide an unparalleled background and instruction on modern CASE techniques, allowing scientists to gain invaluable structure elucidation experience and advance their skills.
