Compounds with the general structure are called generically "peroxides" and are named substitutively by citing the prefix "-peroxy"- before the name of the parent hydride corresponding to R and by functional class nomenclature by citing the prefix names of the groups R and , in alphabetical order, followed by the class name "peroxide" each as a separate word.Examples to R-5.5.5
