In this example, the replacement operation (see R-1.2.2) must be applied. However, for heterocyclic compounds, the replacement operation is applied to the parent name of the cyclic hydrocarbon before consideration of indicated hydrogen or the principal characteristic group. Accordingly, the heteroatoms are preferred to indicated hydrogen and to the principal characteristic group for low locants. | ||
